There are a lot of new challenges associated with a relocation. New home size, school changes for the kids, and possible job changes are just a few things that may need to be considered when a move is made. And there could be another variable that can play an important role, the possibility of moving to a new time zone. Whether it’s from eastern to pacific or from pacific to central time, a change such as this will mean that you have to make adjustments to your daily routines to allow your body to adapt to its new surroundings. Keep reading to find tips for moving to a new time zone.

Try to Keep a Simple, Similar Routine- Yes that’s right, you will want to create a routine that is as similar to what you are used to if possible. A good way to try to keep things similar as far as a routine is concerned is to put things in your new residence to make it look and feel like your old one. People are creatures of habit, so if you can stay consistent with a routine, the easier the transition will be in the long run.

Stay in Shape, Stay Healthy- Once you make the move to the new time zone, make sure to take care of your body from a health and physical standpoint. Try to eat as healthy as possible, get as much fresh air as you can, and try to get yourself on a good, consistent exercise program. All of these things will help your body get adjusted to your new time zone.

Adjust the Lighting in Your Home- Depending on what time of day it is, the amount of lighting in your home can make a difference in helping you and your family get adjusted to the time change. Keep bedrooms dark when it’s time to sleep, while letting a reasonable amount of light into the room when it is time to wake up.

Storage to the Rescue- You will have a lot of different things on your mind when you move to a new time zone. With that being said, if you have a lot of stuff that you are not going to be able to put into your new residence right away, rent a storage unit. This will be an effective way to make sure your valuables stay safe and secure for as long as needed until you are ready to move everything into your new home.

We hope that the above information will be of some assistance to you when you are going about trying to get adjusted to time zone changes. If you would like further information on our portable moving and storage process, give us a call at 1-877-627-8269 or look through our other Blogs
