In 1866, well-known dairy innovator Gail Borden developed and opened a condensed milk factory in the city of Elgin helping the city to establish its economic foundation.

The successful manufacturing company placed Elgin on the map as one of the top, early watch making cities in the world. After the factory was closed in the 1960’s, Elgin continued to invent and inspire. In fact, the city is known for being one of the top cities for creation and the invention of new products.
